Interclub

The annual interclub "10" with Gloucester City CC, Severn RC and Bristol South CC will be held next Wednesday June 4th on the usual Newport Towers course ( U7B) .

Please turn up early to ensure a ride and let's give the larger clubs a run for their money!

Let's have a good turnout - our usual Thursday "10" will NOT be held on the following evening.

Cotswold League Road Race

The first Cotswold League Road Race is the Corinium CC event on
Tuesday 20th May,starting at 19.15. The HQ is Ashton Keynes
Pavilion.The organiser is John Howells,  Entry on the line is £10.00.

Dursley Hardriders event

Last minute (aren't they always!) roadworks shortened the course by 5.5 miles. This ride proved the undoing of 3 riders who punctured on the way to the start, 2 of them DNS. The new course saw the climb up Selsey Hill prove a real challenge for all riders. Chippenham Whs won the team award by a big margin while Gloucester CC narrowly pipped the home club to second place.

Dave Rudland---another club record

This time the "10" with a superb 20-16, improving  Neil Dimon's 2005 time of 20-22. 

30mph is not so far away now!.........

So now Dave has club records at 10, 25 and 100 miles. With Phil Underwoods "50" record at 1-49-32, Dave has a new target to go for in the Severn RC "50" this weekend. No pressure then!

Dave Rudland sets new club record!

In conditions far from ideal, Dave Rudland recorded a time of 3-57-45 to improve his own club record. The wind picked up for some of the later starters in the BDCA "100" last Saturday afternoon with many riders down on their best times so great ride Dave!

Club clothing

Interclub

With a points system rather favouring the club with the largest turnout, victory in the interclub again went to the Gloucester City CC. 
In fact, had our 10 riders occupied the first 10 places we still wouldn't have won ! 
It's been suggested that another club might like to run the event next year, maybe we could change the rules...............

Chris Madge injured

Riding the Dursley club "10" this evening ( Thursday May 24th ) Chris Madge and stoker Astrid Wheatcroft crashed the tandem when the rear tyre blew out. Astrid is shaken but otherwise has only minor scatches but Chris took the brunt of the impact and has facial and dental injuries. Both have been taken to Frenchay Hospital in North Bristol.

Get better soon guys !

UPDATE   18 hours later -  Chris is now sporting a black eye, 3 bust teeth, at least 2 sets of stiches including some in his mouth and swelling pretty much all over.
On the plus side, no head injuries, no broken bones and the tandem appears to be pretty much intact so could be worse

Hopefully will be racing again soon, although the Bristol South 50 on Sunday may be a bit premature!

Dursley RC Hardriders Results

Rob Pears confirmed his unbeatable form in this year's WTTA Hardriders Series by winning the Dursley RC Hilly "26" on Sunday. 
With 5 wins out of 5 rides his lead seems unassailable.
Proclaimed the "Hardest Hardrider of them all" the results saw just 9 riders average over 20 mph on the course which climbed 750 meters in just 26.3 miles.
For the promoting club, Derek Smetham beat Rob Lyne to 2nd place, both being  previous winners in the event. 
Gloucester City CC beat Bath CC to the team prize while David Curtis-Whitfield was fastest junior and Astrid Wheatcroft was first lady
